DOE Launches Net Zero Program

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has launched a new program that aims to dramatically slash the amount of energy buildings consume by 2025. Dubbed, the Zero-Net Energy Commercial Building Initiative (CBI), the program strives to make available new commercial buildings capable of generating as much energy as they consume by using advanced energy efficiency technologies and on-site renewable energy generation systems, such as solar power and geothermal energy. DOE also announced the establishment of the National Laboratory Collaborative on Building Technologies (NLCBT). Both efforts will work to establish and promote clean energy technologies.
