Leasing Fees Reduced, General Services Administration Announces

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Public Buildings Service (PBS) announced that it will reduce the leasing fees it charges to federal customer agencies housed in GSA-managed leased facilities.

Starting in FY 2008, PBS will reduce its fee from 8 to 7 percent for the majority of leased space in which agencies are housed. The fee for unique space will be reduced from 6 to 5 percent.

“GSA’s Public Buildings Service has transformed the way we acquire and manage our leased space by changing the way we do business,” says David L. Winstead, commissioner of the Public Buildings Service. “With new leasing technology and tools and the restructuring of our workforce to meet customer needs, we have increased our efficiencies and are passing on these savings to the federal customer agencies that come to GSA for their workplace needs.”

GSA leases over 166 million rentable square feet of space in 7,300 buildings in 2,100 American communities offering a full range of services to the civilian federal agencies that use GSA for its workspace needs. This includes all major cabinet-level departments, independent agencies, commissions, the Federal Judiciary and members of Congress, and represents approximately half of the entire GSA portfolio.
