AIA/COTE Announce 2005 Green Project Awards



Every year the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE) invites electronic submission of built projects. Among the submission requirements, are the 10 measures and supporting metrics.




Every year the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE) invites electronic submission of built projects. Among the submission requirements, are the 10 measures and supporting metrics.

This year, with the support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR® program, AIA officials have selected eight examples of outstanding sustainable design. A ninth project received special commendation as an urban design plan. The selected projects are best practice examples of a high-performance, sustainable design approach.

Buildings Awarded 2005 Green Project Awards:

• Austin Resource Center for the Homeless (City of Austin), Austin, TX

• The Barn at Fallingwater (The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy), Mill Run, PA

• Eastern Sierra House (Suzanne Johnson), Gardnerville, NV

• Heimbold Visual Arts Center (Sarah Lawrence College), Bronxville, NY

• Leslie Shao-Ming Sun Field Station (Stanford University), Woodside, CA

• Pittsburgh Glass Center (Pittsburgh Glass Center), Pittsburgh, PA

• Rinker Hall at the University of Florida (University of Florida), Gainesville, FL

• Seminar II, The Evergreen State College (The Evergreen State College), Olympia, WA

Special Recognition for urban design:

• Lloyd Crossing Sustainable Design Plan (Portland Development Commission), Portland, OR
