Managing the Shedd Aquarium Through the Pandemic Shutdown

How the facility team helped successfully reopen the Chicago landmark in January



For many facilities across the United States, a pandemic shutdown meant no or very few building occupants. But that wasn’t the case at the John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. Even though no guests were visiting the building, the facility is home to thousands of marine animals. Facility management still had to continue while also maintaining pandemic safety protocols.

In this video, Editor-in-Chief Dan Weltin talks with Bob Wengal, Senior Vice President of Facilities and Security at the John G. Shedd Aquarium. Wengal discusses what it was like maintaining the facility during the shutdown and how the aquarium was able to safely reopen in January.
