According to the U.S. General Services Administration, the federal government comprises almost 450 federal agencies that own or lease more than 353,000 buildings. Some federal agencies are well on their way to using preventive maintenance techniques to improve performance and reduce cost and risk of operating their facilities. One of the most serious risks related to electrical systems is arc flash. Each year, more than 2,000 people are admitted to burn center in the U.S. with severe arc flash burns. In addition to this employee-safety concern, the financial toll of an arc flash incident will often include lost productivity, property damage, the cost of investigating the accident, and any resulting litigation. A strong electrical system maintenance program can significantly lower the risk that an arc flash occurs.
In this first of a two-part webinar series, Arc Flash and Mitigation Strategies for Federal Facilities, you will learn how to create a safer work environment by creating an electrical system maintenance plan aimed at reducing arc flash incidents.
