Tilt turn windows allow for draft-free ventilation and ease of care, glazings that reduce energy usage, UV penetration, and insulate against sound and intrusion...these are among the exclusive features of Schötten Fenster windows.
These practices ensure that timber used in a Schötten Fenster product meets or exceeds the requirements of organizations like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
We also manage our factory representative of our forestry efforts. Scrap wood and sawdust are repurposed as briquettes for heating the factory, and rainwater is reclaimed for use within the factory. We operate our factory floor using daylight engineering and passive ventilation as well as state of the art CNC machines that allow for efficient use of wood stock. Wood cut-offs are measured by the bucket instead of by the dumpster, and fluorescent lights and equipment are turned off during breaks, leaving only computers running.
From water-based sealants and stains to natural rubber, Schötten Fenster North America is proud to represent this history with a world-class product incorporating all of the components a Green architect or builder would expect, and should demand in a 21st century product.
Wood is nature's best insulator. Its natural properties are hygienic, and it captures CO2 from the air and aiding in the purification of our environment. Wood is a renewable resource when harvested responsibly.
Our glazings and finishes promote energy conservation by preventing unwanted heating or cooling loss. The finishes are water-based, non-toxic and the overall product performance ratings are among the highest in the industry.
Schötten Fenster is Energy Star approved& NFRC rated. Our sales team is GreenAdvantage certified, and we are a proudmember of the U.S. Green Building Council.
