REDYREF Takes Building Directories Into The Future from REDYREF Interactive Kiosk Products

Most buildings in North America still utilize static old fashioned company directories in their lobby's that need to be changed by hand.  REDYREF Interactive Kiosk Products, RedyRef (www.redyref.com) recently completed an installation were it replaced an outdated static directory in New York City (499 Seventh Ave.) with a state-of-the-art digital/electronic directory that can be updated from a remote location.

One of the major challenges faced by RedyRef's engineering team was the client did not want the existing directory to be removed until the day the new directory was ready to be installed.  This was a major challenge for RedyRef's engineering team since they needed to custom fabricate the bronze enclosure to the correct size without being permitted to take accurate dimensions prior to the installation.

The solution?  RedyRef completed 90 percent of the bronze laser cut enclosure prior to its installation to afford its engineers the opportunity to take precise measurements of the opening.  Working hand-in-hand with its client RedyRef took precise measurements of the opening on the first day of the installation and completed the fabrication the following day.  The entire installation took RedyRef only two days and provided the client with a very short down time without a directory.

After taking its measurements REDYREF engineers fitted the existing 1 inch deep and 5 foot by 5 foot opening with one large LED monitor (65 inch screen).  They filled the remaining space with a custom laser cut bronze enclosure with lettering of the property's address over the top of the bronze panel to give the directory a high end look.

“In order to complete of project of this caliber you need a dedicated staff of engineers so that all the pieces fit properly. If it didn’t fit properly the first time around the customer could have been without a directory for 3-4 weeks. We took the necessary steps to implement the solution properly and in the end we produced a solution on-time and on-budget with a very satisfied customer,” said Will Pymm, VP REDYREF.
