Responsible for providing a wide variety of skilled maintenance task, such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, door repairs, welding, wall repair, preventative maintenance and, painting in a commercial facility. Assist Maintenance Mechanic Manager in overseeing student staff.

Five years building maintenance experience.

A minimum of two years’ experience in a broad range of skilled maintenance tasks.

Previous experience in commercial ballast retrofit. Ability to operate a variety of power hand tool, and stationary power tools, such as bench grinders, drill presses, and table saws. Ability to remove and replace drywall, tape and fish walls, and repair plaster walls. Ability to texture walls and spray acoustic ceilings. Ability to work with little direct supervision. Ability to summarize in writing work performed. Ability to work well with staff and the general public. Ability to supervise the work of others. Ability to arc and wire feed weld. Demonstrated ability to cut and replace window glass. Ability to repair/replace window blinds and window covering systems. Ability to repair/replace floor tile and carpet, and cove base. Demonstrated mechanical ability. Ability to do basic arithmetic calculations. Ability to make electrical and plumbing installations and repairs. Demonstrated ability in repairing building finishes, furniture and small equipment.


California B drivers license.

Ability to read blueprints and drawings. Prior knowledge working in an institutional or university setting.

Special Conditions Required:

Must be able to work M-F 7am-4pm for the first 3 months for training purposes
