DALLAS – GE has announced iUPSGuard, which provides mission-critical customers with an advanced remote monitoring and diagnostics solution for their uninterruptable power supply (UPS). The solution enables experienced and trained GE engineers to be connected to a customer’s UPS 24x7, allowing them to receive alarms, download events and analyze logs and data trends in order to anticipate risks and improve reaction time. In addition, the iUPSGuard improves the repair times and reduces failure rates of a UPS through constant monitoring and diagnostics. It takes the responsibility out of the operators’ hands, allowing them to fully delegate the detection of issues surrounding their backup power system. The iUPSGuard can provide quarterly reports on the health of the UPS system, along with UPS monitoring reports that include complete alarm and status history of the UPS over the monitored period. When there is a problem with a backup power system, time is of the essence. Being able to remotely troubleshoot and isolate a fault while providing timely, valuable information to on-site personnel can make a world of difference. With the iUPSGuard, alarms are received in real time by a skilled GE technician who will check the severity of the problem and the event list, then make the appropriate decision on whom to dispatch to address the problem. Communication to the UPS occurs via a secure SSL protocol—the same protocol used for secure credit card transactions every day. No special hardware or software is required with the new iUPSGuard, and all data traffic is one way (read only) for optimum security. In addition, all recorded events, measurements and trends are stored in a highly secure, yet easily accessed, cloud system.
