Awards to be presented in October LOS ALTOS, Calif. - In honor of Earth Day, Daintree Networks, Inc., a leading provider of networked wireless control solutions for smart buildings, has announced the first annual Energy Champion Awards. Nominations are open today for the awards created to honor the efforts of those in the industry who are openly driving awareness to save energy by using technologies and processes to reduce energy consumption in offices, warehouses, retail stores, and other commercial buildings. The winners in two categories will be announced in late October, as part of Energy Awareness Month. The Thought Leader award will be given to the person who has made the biggest impact in raising awareness for the need to save energy in the commercial sector in 2013 and 2014. The End User award will be granted to the individual whose efforts have reaped the greatest demonstrated results in terms of reduced energy consumption and overall energy savings within their company. "Daintree is committed to simplifying the way building owners and operators intelligently manage, monitor and optimize their energy use," noted Daintree CEO Danny Yu. "With increasingly stringent versions of energy standards such as ASHRAE 90.1 and California's Title 24 looming, as well as the imperative to conserve energy in general for global environmental health, energy optimization is becoming mission-critical for commercial and industrial buildings. We believe, as an advocate of open solutions for energy management, it's important to recognize the efforts of those who are both championing the need to save energy and those who are champions in those efforts." The awards will be presented during National Energy Awareness Month, begun in 1991 through a presidential proclamation on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy to promote public awareness of the nation's energy needs and available energy options. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges from the industry. Those interested in serving on the judging panel may submit an email noting their qualifications and interests to firstname.lastname@example.org. Nominations will close at 12 noon Pacific time on September 1, 2014.
