Barcoding, Inc. Announces CaptureTech Key Management Solution
System leverages RFID and barcode technology to help users efficiently, securely and reliably issue and collect keys
BALTIMORE – Barcoding, Inc., a leader in enterprise-wide mobility solutions, announces the availability of the CaptureTech Key Management Solution, a system using radio frequency identification (RFID) and barcode technology to enable users to more efficiently, securely, and reliably manage keys. Barcoding is now selling, deploying, and supporting the CaptureTech automated Key Management Solution, an ideal system for any organization that issues and collects keys on a regular basis by providing greater organization, accountability and chain of custody assurance for these important assets.
Developed in conjunction with CaptureTech, a Netherlands-based automatic identification specialist, the CaptureTech Key Management Solution consists of the following:
• KeyCop: The heart of the Key Management Solution, the KeyCop is an RFID-enabled seal to which keys are attached. Tamper-evident, the KeyCop stores information, such as a specific number, in an Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) RFID tag. Users can retrieve this information by reading the number on the seal or by scanning the barcode or RFID tag.
• Key Management Software: CaptureTech’s modular software application allows users to manage key data, including the registration of in and outbound keys and inventory. The software also provides full reporting capabilities for easy audit trail creation.
• KeyConductor: An Electronic Key Cabinet, the KeyConductor is a system of “blades,” or shelves, that hold 12 key positions. Using either barcode or RFID technology depending on the number of keys, the KeyConductor allows authorized users to log into the system via an integrated keypad and display. The key for which the user is authorized will light up and is unlocked. Upon returning the key, the user will scan its barcode or RFID tag, and insert the key back into its respective blade.
Maarten Anderson, CEO, CaptureTech, said, “While typical electronic key cabinets provide security, our RFID-enabled key management system adds a new level of accuracy and efficiency to the process. With use cases in a wide range of industries, including facility management, healthcare, government, and transportation, the Key Management Solution provides users with a cost-effective, easy means of tracking and tracing keys and offers the peace of mind that only authorized personnel have access to particular items or areas.”
“CaptureTech has already demonstrated its Key Management Solution’s viability in the UK market, so as a long-time partner, we jumped on the opportunity to bring the technology to our U.S. customers,” said Jay Steinmetz, CEO, Barcoding. “The beauty of the Key Management Solution is its flexibility. Every implementation begins with the KeyCop, but from there, we are able to use our systems integration and automated data capture expertise to build a unique solution that meets clients’ needs.”
