Fletcher Allen, Vermont’s academic medical center and founding member of the Fletcher Allen Partners health system, has an opening for a Manager of Facilities Operation.

Fletcher Allen Health Care (http://www.fletcherallen.org) together with the University of Vermont College of Medicine is Vermont’s academic medical center. We are a Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center serving a population of one million throughout Vermont and Northern New York. With over 7,000 employees, we are the largest private employer in the state of Vermont.

Position Summary:
The Manager is responsible for oversight, management and execution of all building utility systems, building infrastructure, interiors, site, landscaping, and non-medical equipment repairs and maintenance. Additional responsibilities include day-to-day management of the Utility Management Plan, Fire Safety Management Plan (chairs committee), Statement of Conditions and the Building Maintenance Program in compliance with the Joint Commission Life Safety standards. Oversees management of the work-order system and the preventive/corrective maintenance program. Provides management and coordination of FAHC’s Bio-medical equipment service contract and durable medical equipment programs. Responsible for participating in the development of capital projects and coordinating tasks associated with construction projects. Manages an $18 million operational budget. The Manager reports to the Director of Facilities Management.

Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. CHFM certification strongly preferred. CHFM certification must be obtained within five years of hire.

Experience:
Five years of hands on experience in maintaining, repairing and installing hospital or industrial building utility systems. Five years’ experience in supervising journeymen level trades or technical staff in hospital or equivalent environment. Five years’ experience in managing vendor contracts and materials/services procurement.

Knowledge:
Specific demonstrated knowledge of hospital equipment and building primary and secondary mechanical, electrical, and plumbing distribution systems and equipment; construction, installation, operation and repair. Working knowledge and understanding of maintenance and repair management systems. Knowledge of building operation design, and construction standards. Solid project management experience required.

Special Skills/Equipment:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience with computer applications associated with work order systems, microprocessor control systems, and computer based ordering, scheduling, and spreadsheet software. Must demonstrate effective human resource and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, communicate and listen effectively with frequent interruptions while maintaining customer focus at all times.

Must possess valid driver`s license.
