New LEED AP Exams

The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), established with the support of USGBC, has begun testing for its first new LEED credentials under the recently released LEED v3. GBCI, which now handles LEED certification and LEED Accredited Professional credentialing, will offer the two new tests for the new LEED Green Associate credential and the LEED Accredited Professional Operations and Maintenance credential. The remaining LEED Accredited Professional tests — for Building Design & Construction and Interior Design and Construction — will be available later this summer.

LEED Green Associate is a new designation that recognizes knowledge and skills needed in allied professions and non-technical fields related to green design, construction and operations.

Current LEED Accredited Professionals who have passed the old LEED AP for Existing Buildings exam have the option of taking the new exam to add the O&M credential to their name, but there is no requirement to do so.
