Judging Criteria:

Requirements:
Who is eligible?
  • A facility department responsible for 100,000 sq ft. or more
(exception: 5,000 sq. ft. for data centers)
  • Commercial and/or institutional space (corporate office, K-12 and
higher education, health care, government, hospitality and retail)
Who is not eligible?
  • Third party service providers
  • Facility departments of building product manufacturers
What are the judges looking for?
  • A compelling, results-based story that the industry can learn from. Judges will favor a clear, detailed explanation of a project or practice.
  • A demonstration of value added to the organization. For example: How did the project or practice align with the organization's goals? How deep was the impact of the project or practice within the organization?
  • The ability to support the project with results and data as an example of excellence in facility management. The judges will be looking for concrete evidence of the department's achievements.

For example, an FM department that has completed a major project or initiative (like the development of fan occupant satisfaction survey or the completion of a major new construction or energy project) would be eligible for FMXcellence consideration. Similarly, an ongoing FM practice or program such as a capital planning process or regular analysis and reporting of metrics would qualify.

A wide variety of completed FM projects/initiatives and ongoing practices/programs are eligible for FMXcellence consideration. As examples, the efforts could involve sustainability; strategic planning; communications throughout the organization; mission critical support; cost cutting; or staff development. We're looking for the ways that FM is adding value. If you have any questions, please contact edward.sullivan@tradepress.com.

An organization can submit more than one completed project or ongoing practice for FMXcellence consideration; one project/practice per application. However, an organization can only receive FMXcellence recognition once each year.

All entries will be judged by the editorial staff of Building Operating Management.
