Maintenance Departments Investing in Infrared Technology
By Thomas A. Westerkamp - November 2008
A growing number of maintenance and engineering departments are investing in infrared-testing technology as a way to uncover small, often hidden problems in electrical, HVAC and roofing systems, as well as building envelopes. This technology application is prolonging the life of equipment and making departments more efficient. It also is helping organizations curtail energy use, an environmental benefit becoming more essential every day.
By tracking key advances in infrared-imaging technology, managers more easily can identify the most effective applications for the equipment in institutional and commercial facilities. They also will be better able to get the most out of the investment by turning results of testing into bottom-line savings.
