Environmentalist and Public Power Launch New Energy Efficiency Program

Helping businesses and homeowners take advantage of all cost-effective electricity-efficient opportunities is the focus of a joint initiative by the American Public Power Association (APPA) and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
The initiative will focus on supporting cost-effective improvements in efficiency standards for buildings and equipment, and developing and promoting rate-setting policies and programs designed to achieve energy efficiency improvements while ensuring utilities’ financial integrity.
Strengthening the nation’s energy efficiency infrastructure, including support for existing regional alliances and new university centers on energy efficiency will be another focus, as well as helping APPA members pool resources to take advantage of industry-wide best practices employing energy efficiency.
