Energy Star Helps Engage School Staffs, Provides National Recognition

December 2013 - Energy Efficiency

energy star certification, benchmark

What has pursuing Energy Star certification for your facilities allowed you to do that might not otherwise have taken place?

Two things. First it has helped us engage school staffs, particularly those in schools that were not achieving a qualifying rating of 75 in helping us conserve utilities because they wanted to earn their plaque and recognition. Second, it provides us a nationally recognized, objective benchmark to demonstrate that we are being good stewards of the tax money we are managing.

Answers provided by Joseph Clements PE, CEM, Executive Director, Facilities Services for Fulton County School System, College Park, Ga.
