When a Florida's nursing home’s generator wasn’t able to power the air conditioning for its residents — one worked went home and started posting requests for help on Facebook, according to an article on the Palm Beach Post website.
Industrial mist fans were brought in for temporary relief along with portable fans brought by family members of residents. The next day power was restored. The day after that, the worker was fired.
By calling for help on Facebook, her supervisor said, the worker had violated a policy prohibiting Signature HealthCare employees from making social media comments that put the company in “an unfavorable light.”
The fired staffer said she was told, "You did nothing to help the building."
