BUILDING OWNER NEWSLETTER
Welcome to another issue of “Where Metal REALLY Shines,” an electronic newsletter for building owners and managers issued by The Metal Initiative, a coalition of companies and trade associations formed to educate owners about the use and selection of metal roof and wall systems in commercial buildings. The subject of this issue is an event that provides building owners and managers like you with an opportunity to learn first hand about metal roofs and walls...METALCON International 2007. 17th Annual Event Will Be Held in October METALCON International is the only trade show and conference dedicated to the use of metal in residential, institutional and commercial construction. As such, it offers building owners and managers a great opportunity to learn more about the metal roof and wall systems used in commercial buildings. The 17th annual event is being held October 3-5, 2007, in Las Vegas, and provides you with the opportunity to discover new products in more than 750 exhibit booths, meet new suppliers among the 400 companies represented, and talk with industry experts who understand your needs.
Included among this year’s highlights is a dedicated exhibit area called "Green Island" that features metal-related products that meet green building standards for recycled content, recyclability, durability, and energy efficiency.
As part of the show, you can also partake in one or more of the 38 educational sessions, including two that are sponsored by The Metal Initiative and are intended specifically for building owners and managers. They are: "Metal Roof and Wall Systems: What You Need to Know" This session is intended to provide building owners and managers with a working knowledge of the metal roof and wall systems used in commercial buildings. Presenters will examine the design opportunities offered by these systems to create more visually interesting buildings, as well as the environmental and economic aspects of the systems. The “green” portion of the presentation will detail why metal roofs and walls are an environmentally responsible and sustainable choice for buildings of all types, while the portion dealing with cost-effectiveness will examine construction, operating, maintenance and life cycle costs. "Cool Metal Roofing: An Emerging Hot Topic " The trend toward building codes that require energy-efficient roofing to help reduce air conditioning loads continues to grow. To help keep building owners and managers abreast of the latest developments, this informative presentation will explain the concept of “cool roofing.” The session will examine how this new advancement in roof systems can reduce cooling energy costs, improve both air quality and thermal comfort, contribute to LEED® credits, help comply with energy codes, and qualify for tax deductions. The session will also include a case study documenting the energy cost savings that are possible. Once there, you’ll see where metal really shines...in an extensive photo gallery, in numerous case studies, in life cycle cost studies, in design flexibility, in sustainability, and much more. |
