Motors Efficiency Standards Are on the Rise

National efficiency standards are increasing to NEMA Premium^® levels for many motors in response to the enactment of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. As a result, many motors manufactured after December 19, 2010, will have a higher baseline efficiency rating than they do currently.

How Can Xcel Energy Help?

To help you transition to the new NEMA standards, Xcel Energy will continue to offer current Motor Efficiency rebates for motors purchased by December 31, 2011. If you have questions about motors purchased after this date, please contact your account manager or our Energy Efficiency Specialists at 1-800-481-4700.

What about rebates for motors that exceed the NEMA Premium standards?

Xcel Energy also offers rebates for motors that exceed NEMA Premium levels. We call them “Enhanced NEMA Premium” motors. If the motor you intend to buy beats NEMA Premium levels by one full percentage point, you qualify for additional rebate dollars.
