If you’re implementing a wayfinding system in your facility, think about more than just signage. There are other visual cues that can help occupants and visitors find their way around, like lighting, color schemes or visual landmarks.
If you choose different accent colors for different departments in a large office, occupants will know they’re in the HR department just because particular objects are orange, for example. In high-rise buildings, it helps to include visual landmarks in elevator lobbies on each floor, like sculptures or different kinds of plants. Occupants who use those elevators every day will become accustomed to their particular floors’ elevator lobby and instinctively know it’s the right one.
