Connnecting the BAS With Other Building Systems

September 2012 - Building Automation

How does new technology allow the BAS to connect with other building systems?

Originally, a building manager had to have on-site or remote dial-up access to a building automation head-end to connect with the system.  Now, internet dashboard interfaces and cloud integration have provided new ways connect with other building systems through the building automation system by facilitating the exchange and collection of of building automation system data.  This connectivity allows building managers and operators to access, monitor, and control building systems. From a building automation system dashboard, potentially any number of buildings and building systems, regardless of automation system sophistication, can be represented and access – in as much as the remote building or system will allow.
